Edward Henry Masterman was the personal servant of M. Ratchett. Mr. Masterman states that the last time he talked with his employer was at about nine while he was fulfilling his orders. Edward also states that their was a note found in the bedroom of M. Ratchett, which caused Ratchett to lose his temper for reasons unknown to Edward himself. Edward was then accused by M. Ratchett as being the one to write and deliver the note, which he promised was not true. Eventually, M. Ratchett calmed down and then fell asleep. That night was the night he was murdered.
